… if everybody behaved just the way I wanted them to? If everyone around me were just an absolute pleasure to live with?
Then I could comfortably lean back in my recliner and let my eyes wander blissfully from
person to person,
neighbor to neighbor,
relative to relative,
friend to friend,
spouse to … ex-spouse,
mother to father,
daughter to son.
I could look at all of them bursting with love, in a delirium of joy, and brimming over with peaceful content.
Wouldn’t that be nice?
Too bad that the sole purpose of all these people (and the only reason they were born into this world) is not to make me happy.
Sigh.
